The Beginning:
It all started with an ice cold Beer
Mikayla and Matthew (aka Mikay and Matt) met when she was carrying way to many things into her now sister in laws housewarming party and and Matt gallantly offered to help her out. The party went on, and so did Mikay’s interest in the “kid with tattoos doing cartwheels.” During the event, Matt asked her to keep an eye on his beer. Little did they know that his one beer would trigger a night full of meaningful conversation, and start them on a path toward forever.
As time went on, their relationship deepened and they quickly became inseparable. They spent days at art festivals, food truck events, beach trips with the dogs and simply watching Harry Potter for the 5th time on the couch.
the Proposal
Matt popped the question at one of their favorite beaches just a short distance from their newly purchased home. He decided to ask Mikay if she wanted to take their best fur-pal Bently for a walk, knowing that Gianna a photography loving friend was hiding to capture the perfect moment.
After walking through the park and stopping to snag a pic of Bentley, Matt got down on one knee and asked, “Mikayla, will you marry me?” He spoke from his heart and while shocked in the moment, the answer was a resounding, ‘YES.” Gianna’s stealthy spot in the bushes captured every moment filled with happy emotions and excitement.
Why Eagle Mountain?
When Mikayla and Matt were touring venues, they were looking for a space that complemented both of them. Matt is a skier who loves golf and spending winters in the mountains. Mikayla is a Hallmark-loving reader who loves curling up with a good book and a view. Eagle Mountain was clearly the best of both worlds. The veranda with the rockers and perfect view captured Mikayla’s heart, and the golf course yelled out Matt’s name. Once inside they describe the feeling like a home away from home where they could see themselves coming back year after year making memories with each other and future children.
Driving up the road, and seeing the huge front of the old inn immediately felt like I was in a Hallmark small town movie.
